With a crisp new layer of snow over the ground, I whistled away my morning over the red glow of the stovetop, combining two of the greatest foods ever made; Red Velvet Oreos and chocolate!
I'm going on the record again to state that red velvet is the flavor to halt all other flavors so that they may bow in recognition of the rose ribbon of taste bud heaven. Red Velvet can do no wrong... not as a donut, not as a Poptart, not as a funnel cake, a cheesecake brownie, or a waffle... and certainly not as an Oreo flavor! And it never tasted better then when it's coated in lavish, melted chocolate.
I won't say that my love of this scarlet sugar outweighs my love for family, friends, or the work that I do for kids. But I will say that it's a joy to pause in the midst of an early morning and indulge in the simpler things that bring you enjoyment.
Often I find, that the things you love are the things that God gave you a talent for. (Yes, that includes eating!) And because God loves us so much, He's given us each talents in a lot of things. When we exercise our talents, I like to think it's one of our ways we can say 'I love you' to God. Keeping up the unique gifts He was more then happy to give us... just so He could watch us use them!
So, in the kitchen, dipping Red Velvet Oreos as the quiet snow falls outside, I indulge in my love of cooking, basking in love for my Heavenly Father with each melted marvel.
